There are many scenic places in Eastern Idaho! Below are some of the attractions students like to visit and explore. 

Jackson Hole

​Visit historic Jackson Hole, a 48-mile long valley surrounded by the Teton Mountains. It is known for its wildlife and natural beauty. Located close to the western border of Wyoming and less than two hours from Rexburg, it makes an excellent trip with friends!

Grand Targhee

​​Grand Targhee is a world class ski resort that offers year round adventure. It's only and hour to an hour and a half drive from Rexburg! Visit Grand Targhee to ski and tube in the Winter or bike and hike in the Summer! Winter lift tickets range from about $96- $120 per day. ​

The Grand Tetons

​The majestic Grand Tetons are located only 50 miles from Rexburg. Views of the Tetons can be seen from the Idaho side or in the Grand Teton Park, located in Wyoming. Makes for a great weekend trip with friends! There is a $35 entrance fee per vehicle that is valid for 7 days. Pack a lunch and enjoy some time outside!

Kelly Canyon

Kelly Canyon holds a lot of attractions for everyone to enjoy!
  • If winter sports are your cup of tea, the most affordable and student friendly option is Kelly Canyon.  40 minutes away, you could ski and snowboard for just $29-$79 a ticket. If it's your first time and you want to just try the bunny hill, it's only $9 a ticket! 
  • In the warmer months, this is a great place to go hiking, mountain biking, and four-wheeling. Maybe take your friends up and pick some huckleberries! Check out the Outdoor Resource Center for outdoor gear to rent.

Saint Anthony Sand Dunes

​The Sand Dunes are a great place to have a bonfire and hang out with friends. During the Winter season this is a fun place to go sledding! Pack a lunch, bring a frisbee or a blanket, and just relax out in the sand!

They are only a short, 25 minute drive away from Rexburg, located just outside of St. Anthony.

Harriman State Park

​Harriman State Park is a great place to get out into nature. With hiking trails, camping, horseback riding, fishing and skiing, there are plenty of parks to explore less than a hour from Rexburg! Plus, the entrance fee is only $6!

Packsaddle Lake

Packsaddle Lake is a beautiful, 5.2 mile hike in the Driggs, Wyoming area. It has a breathtaking forest landscape and a rewarding view of the lake at the end. With the proper vehicle you can drive in from the paved road, cutting the hike down to around 1.8 miles. 

Take a break from your homework, grab your roommates, pack a lunch, and set out on a drive to Packsaddle Lake to spend the day hiking and swimming. This is such a fun day trip!

Craters of the Moon

​20,000 years ago a series of eruptions caused the Great Rift to spew lava, covering to what is now 618 square miles. These lava formations are free to explore and visit! This is a 3 hour drive from Rexburg so if you are looking for a fun day activity, consider visiting this cool landmark! There is a $15 entrance fee per vehicle.

Lava Hot Springs 

Lava Hot Springs offer great swimming areas, warmed by the natural hot springs. This warmth provides year round fun for the whole family. 
​​- 1 hour drive from Rexburg
- 5 hot pools with rock covered bottoms
- 102° to 112° 
- all natural pools, no chemicals
- $6 per person during the week
- $8 per person on the weekend
- Outside food is allowed

Heise Hot Springs

- 30 minute drive from Rexburg
- 1 large hot pool, 1 warm pool
​- 92° to 104°
- all natural pools, no chemicals
- $10 per person

R Mountain

​Only about 12 miles away from Rexburg, R Mountain is a staple of Rexburg. R Mountain is actually the remnants of an old volcanic cinder cone. Once you get to the top, you can walk all the way around the rim in a complete circle.

Mesa Falls

​​Don’t miss the beauty of Mesa Falls only 43 miles from Rexburg. Both the Upper Falls and the Lower Falls are a spectacular sight. Mesa Falls is accessible by vehicle in the summer and by snowshoes, cross-country skis or snowmobiles in the winter
