New Student Updates

New Student Update #09

3/8/2021

New Student Information

Reserve or Buy Textbooks

As you finish registering for classes, the next step is to reserve or buy textbooks. Reserving your textbooks now means less waiting in lines, no stress about course changes, and you can pay after the semester starts. Use the Textbook Price Comparison Tool to get the best deals on textbooks from the University Store or from other sources.

Financial Aid If Changing Your Major

For financial aid purposes, you must submit any program (major) changes to your academic advisor two weeks before the beginning of the semester. If you change your program after this period, your new program may not take effect until the following semester and could result in a loss of federal financial aid for the current semester. Only program applicable courses are eligible for federal financial aid. To change your academic program, contact the Academic Advising Center.

Merging Emails

If you would like, you can merge your BYU-I email to your primary email account.

A lot of important information about classes, University updates, internship information, and career opportunities will come via email so get in the habit of checking your email regularly now (if you haven't already).

Additional Info | Sports

Have you checked out the "Additional Info" tab at the top of this page? Under this tab you will find sections with other useful information about campus and the many activities you can look forward to during your time here at BYU-Idaho.

Check out the Competitive and Rec Sports section! There are a lot of sports to participate in! Find out what semesters your favorite sports are offered.

Did You Know?

  • There is a bowling alley, ping pong table, pool table, and foosball in the Manwaring Center (MC) open to all students and visitors. Occasionally tournaments will happen at the MC as well.
    • Note: ping pong, pool, and foosball are currently closed due to COVID-19 precautions. Bowling is open, but a mask is required at all times.
  • The Rexburg Temple is at the top of the hill on the top of campus. “You are never lost when you can see the temple”. As you sacrifice time to go to the temple while in school, you will be blessed in many ways.
  • Every day there are deals for food in the Crossroads. Follow them on social media to get the daily deal updates. @byuicrossroads

Inspirational Message

A Tradition of Honor

President Eyring said this in a devotional,

“The standards of the Honor Code are designed for our protection and ultimate triumph over our spiritual adversary. As we faithfully apply those standards in our lives, we gain power to recognize and transcend the clever temptations that might put us on a subtle downward path.”
